At his joint news conference with Hungarian Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade, Peter Szijjarto, in Budapest, Armenian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ararat Mirzoyan confirmed Yerevan's policy towards normalization of relations with Azerbaijan.

The FM noted that the Crossroads of Peace initiative of the Armenian authorities implies the unblocking of all communications in the region, which will facilitate the transportation of passengers and cargo and the provision of services. In the same context, Armenia is considering the possibility of participating in renewable energy supply programs to Europe.

"The main guarantee is peace. I reaffirm Armenia's commitment to lasting peace. We are engaged in negotiations, the goal of which is the final settlement of the long-standing conflict," the Armenian FM noted, and listed the principles by which this should happen: mutual recognition of territorial integrity, border delimitation based on the Alma Ata Declaration of 1991, and unblocking of regional communications.

"I hope that results will be recorded in the near future," added Mirzoyan.

"You are aware that we are in a process that considerably brings Armenia and the EU closer together. There is a new set of initiatives on the agenda, and we pin hopes also on support during Hungary's EU chairmanship," the Armenian FM noted.
