The Armenian government, at its Cabinet meeting Thursday, made a decision to establish an embassy of Armenia in Cyprus.

In the explanation of this decision, it is noted that Armenia and Cyprus perceive each other as traditionally friendly countries. During the past decades, Armenia and Cyprus have developed strong interstate relations.

Currently, the embassies of the two countries operate concurrently. The seat of the Armenian embassy in Cyprus is in Athens, and that of the Cypriot embassy in Armenia is in Moscow.

On March 14, the Cypriot side notified in an official statement about its decision to open a Cypriot embassy in Armenia—in the capital Yerevan, expecting to receive the agreement of the Armenian government.

The FM of Cyprus also officially announced this within the framework of his official visit to Armenia on March 7.

Opening an Armenian embassy in Cyprus will contribute to the further development of bilateral relations.
