Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze has declined from visiting the US due to the conditions imposed on him by the American side, which required the temporary withdrawal of the bill on foreign agents, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) of Georgia informs on its website.

"Today, an announcement was made by the US embassy [in Georgia] that high-ranking representatives of the Georgian government were invited to the US, which the Georgian side turned down. In this regard, I would like to clarify that the Prime Minister of Georgia was invited to the US, warning that before the visit, the Parliament of Georgia will have to temporarily stop the discussion of the draft law ‘On Transparency of Foreign Influence.’

Conducting a visit with conditions does not correspond to the spirit of partnership, which should be based on mutual respect and mutual trust," the Georgian MFA said in a statement on Thursday.
