The president of Azerbaijan admitted that his country waged an aggressive war against Armenia and Nagorno-Karabakh. Ilham Aliyev made this reckless semi-confession in his remarks at the opening of the 6th World Forum on Intercultural Dialogue, under the title "Dialogue for Peace and Global Security: Cooperation and Interconnectivity," in the Azerbaijani capital of Baku.

"Azerbaijan ensured peace by war. I think that this should be thoroughly examined," said Aliyev. One cannot disagree with that statement. Especially after this confession, this matter should be thoroughly investigated, preferably by international courts.

"We [i.e. Azerbaijan] had to achieve peace through war. What we did in 2020—44 days of the Patriotic War—allowed us to liberate the largest part of the territories. Last September, we completely restored our territorial integrity and sovereignty," added Aliyev, once again confirming the fact of waging war prohibited by all possible national and international laws.
