Hraparak daily of the Republic of Armenia (RA) writes as follows, in part: The term of detention of 8 figures from Artsakh [(Nagorno-Karabakh)] who are in [Azerbaijani capital] Baku prison ends at the end of May.

The relatives of the captives had little hope that the detention would not be extended, but that the cases would be sent to the court, and the trial would give a little chance for the attention of the international community to be focused on the problem because no one pins any hope on the RA authorities anymore; the hope is international pressure.

But, in all likelihood, the [Azerbaijani president] Aliyev executioner system will extend the detentions for another 4 months, and a major international event is expected in November in Baku: 29th session of the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change—COP29.

More than 120 heads of state will arrive in Baku, and it is unlikely that political trials will begin at that phase. The recent campaign especially against Ruben Vardanyan [a Russian Armenian businessman and philanthropist who briefly served as state minister of Artsakh] that began in the local mass media also speaks of the insidious intentions of the Aliyev regime.
